incubus are a funk/nu - metal band from Calabasas california.vocalist Brandon Boyd and drummer Jose Pasillas went to elementry school together.at this moment in time neither brandon or jose had any thought about a band.then in middle school they met Mike Einziger who spent most of his time playing guitar.in high school they met alex Katunich(known as dirk lance now) and decided in 1991 to form a band. they played clubs and partys for some years and then in 1994 released a demo called closet cultivation.they then realeased another demo called incubus.they continued to play clubs and then decided because no record companies were interested in them realeased their own cd called fungus amongus.

this is where dj life came into play. he saw incubus live and asked them if they wanted any dj parts on there songs.the scratching and samples became not a backdrop to the music but was as important as the drumming,vocals,or the guitar playing.incubus were known for there live shows and eventually they had record companies at there feet.immortal were the company who signed incubus and on immortal records incubus realeased a e.p. called enjoy incubus.the track that bought incubus into the limelight was a collabration they did with dj greyboy, a song called familiar for the spawn soundtrack.many famous bands were on this record including fellow record label friends korn.they then in 1997 went touring with korn and played new material to the crowds who accepted incubus with a huge response.later that year in september they realeased there first full length album S.C.I.E.N.C.E. after the realease of science they toured with 311 and sugar ray.during this tour in february 1998 they asked dj life to leave the family of incubus .they replaced him with dj kilmore and then went on to tour with many great bands including system of a down and limp bizkit.they were also on the ozzfest 1998 tour which also gave them alot of publicity.

they then headed into the studio and in october 1999 they realeased "make yourself".they made it big(like korn big) from a single of make yourself called "pardon me" this was being played all over the country .from this single make yourself went gold.then they realeased "stellar" which was in the american top ten for some time.they realeased a e.p. mainly made of acoustic and live material called "when incubus attacks volume. 1" in october 2000 the album make yourself went platinum. then in november 2000 they rerealeased fungus amongus .then in january 2001 they realeased the single "drive" which went number one in america.at this moment they are recording material for the new album and are touring europe in june and july
